Promise

It was an early morning in the village of Konaha; people were just starting the new day. The morning was pleasant as sun light reached over the landscape and a cool breeze helped carry the soothing scent of mountain pine. However for one girl, this day was not so happy.
"Why do you have to leave?" The girl whimpered as she sobbed into the sleeves of her jacket.
"Yuki I told you we're just leaving for a few years, but we will come back ok. Come on stop crying." He closes the gap between them to hold her in comfort.
"But, Itachi you mean so much to me, I don't want you to go!" She continued to protest with tears still streaming down from her aqua eyes that had now made a wet spot on his shirt.
"Hurry up Yuki. I don't have all day here give him your present, say goodbye and let's go!!!" Her older sister, Ichigo, shouted from where she perched herself in a tree to carefully watcher over her sister. Itachi's younger brother and parents were near by as well, taking in the small scene that Yuki had started, just beyond the gate entrance.
"Alright I'm coming!" Yuki replied attempting to wipe her face dry of her tears.
"You got me a present?" Itachi questioned as he places a bit of her soft brown hair behind her left ear.
"Umm… well… yeah, I mean it's not much but, I found him in the forest. He had sprained its front paw and I took care of him...so here." She handed him a pouch that continued to squirm in Itachi's hands. When he opened it he was shocked to see a cute baby weasel with fuzzy brown fur with black ears had popped out and jump on his head.
"I hope your parents don't mind but, we can't keep him, Ichigo says that we have enough pets to care for, besides I think it looks like you." she said with a grin as she gazed up to see that the  weasel was trying to nestle itself into Itachi's hair.
"I guess I have to take him now." Trying to see what the little creature was doing.
"Well of course you do, but under one condition." Yuki stated.
"Fine, Yuki what is it?"
"You have to promise to come back."
"Yuki I already told you it's only for-" Yuki interrupted him.
"NO, you have to promise me." She insisted. Locking onto his coal black eyes, trying her best to fix him with an all consuming stare, letting it known that she meant business.
"Yuki I promise. I promise."  Itachi reassured her lightly holding her chin. He bent down toward her to place a soft sweet kiss on her lips. This was a welcome surprise to Yuki, for she had someday hoped to confess her feelings to Itachi. Although she thought her chance slipped by when he told her about them leaving, but apparently he had thought the same and decided to seize the moment to securely confirm his feelings about her. Of course this sudden act of PDA was a shock to everyone in the vicinity.
As they parted Itachi looked upon his beloved's face that was now lightly flushed and peered in to those eyes filled with endless warmth and love.
"Bye then." He said with a confident grin on his face. Turning on his heel, he headed toward his family and out of the village. Yuki was frozen in place due to her love's sweet confession. She couldn't think of a time in her young life where she was so full of joy. Ichigo had decided now would be a good time to head back home jumping down from the tree. She took a hold of her left wrist and slowly guided her along the way. But suddenly Yuki wanted to run after him and scold that it wasn't fair to kiss a girl and then leave, however she stopped her foolish thought and raised her free hand to her mouth, remember Itachi's tender embrace. And thinking back to the moments before that when he promised to come back to her. The memory of this verbal statement washed a sense of comfort over her. She meant for him to say the promise, for in al the years she had know him not once did he ever break them. Itachi would come back in that she was certain.
